Our beliefs about ourselves determine the directions of our lives. If you change how you think and feel about yourself you can change your life. People respond to how we feel about ourselves. This is an unconscious process. If we feel good about ourselves others will feel good about us in turn. If we feel good about ourselves we will make decisions that will bring good things to ourselves. Others will respond in kind.
You Don’t Have to Believe Everything That You Think!
- Notice your thoughts. Notice every time you think something negative about yourself. Just notice it. Notice that your mind is trying to protect you or take care of you in some way.
- Try to lean away from the negative thought. Don’t push it away but don’t focus on it either, just let it slide by.
- Treat yourself the way that you want others to treat you. Others will pick up on how you feel about yourself and treat you accordingly- we teach others how to treat us.
- Be kind to yourself. Imagine your favorite little person and how you would talk to them if they made a mistake. Would you blame or judge or would you respond with compassion? Try to give that same compassion to yourself.
